If you are like most brides, this is the first time you have planned any kind of big event, especially the most important one of your life. Here are a few frequently asked questions to help you get started. If you have more, please email your questions here.
QUESTION 1-
Will my guests have enough to eat if I just have heavy hors d’ oeuvres on my buffet?
ANSWER -
Yes! You might think that because everything is smaller, it is not going to fill people up. This is not necessarily true if you do it the right way. When you do a heavy hors d’ oeuvres buffet it is wise to choose 6-10 items, depending on your guest count. This is a great way to give your guests variety! Keep in mind that there is a difference between light and heavy hors d’ oeuvres. The time of your event will depend on which way you want to go!
QUESTION 2-
What other charges are there going to be other than what is on the quote? Will there be anything added on after I sign the contract?
ANSWER -
This is what sets us apart from the rest! Not only do I try to make this as easy and stressless as possible, but everything that I think you will need at your particular venue is already included in the first quote that I give you. From the linens to the forks and knives, it’s all there!
QUESTION 3-
When should I book my venue?
ANSWER -
You should definitely look around at all of your vendors and get as many quotes as you can before you book your venue. This is probably your first time planning a wedding so you aren’t quite sure how much everything is going to cost. If you spend all your money on your venue then you won’t have money for the caterer, florist, DJ, etc. You need enough to go around in order to make this all come together! Start looking at least a year in advance. Some of the popular places in Atlanta get booked more than a year out!
QUESTION 4-
I am trying to do something really different for the menu for my rehearsal dinner, something people will remember. Can you create something totally new that is not on your menu but customized to our tastes?
ANSWER -
Most definitely. Customizing a menu is a great way to show your personality and even tell a little about your relationship. You might want to choose some ethnic foods from different places you have been and recreate those into action stations. Keep in mind that creating a special menu sometimes reflects a price increase just because the foods are so specialized. Just let me know what you are thinking! I will be more than happy to put together a quote for you.
QUESTION 5-
After we booked our venue we realized that our guest count keeps growing and I don’t think we will be able to seat everyone for our seated dinner reception. What should I do?
ANSWER -
Luckily you have options! The first thing you need to do is change your menu. Heavy Hors d’ oeuvres menus are all food items that you can either eat with your fingers or with a fork. You don’t need a knife so people don’t necessarily have to have a seat. You can set up chairs in groups around the room and also setup the highboy tables for people to stand at and mingle. Also, if you create an atmosphere where people want to walk around and try different foods at different stations then it is not an inconvenience to them if they don’t have a seat the whole time. Talk to me about how we can create fun items for both your cocktail hour and the buffet that will allow people to mingle and have fun!!
